Sorry for the cheesy title – supar tired.

Cave Story Ripoff

Build 22 is out! You should be able to install it over previous versions without problems.

This is a big one, especially on the content side. Highlights include:

  • TONS of new official weapons and actors implemented thanks to new content producers Capnbubs and Numgun – most of the balancing, costs, and audio effects are still works in progress.
  • Lots of new exclusive and amazing in-game music thanks to DannyB of dB Soundworks. More on this later!
  • Completely new, completely awesome full-blown mission with almost completely hand-painted environment!
  • Vastly more interesting and reactive AI actor behavior
  • AI GO-TO mode waypoints can lock onto moving actors – make squads move in groups!
  • 2X Windowed mode for easier to read fonts and screen action
  • Buy menu lists are now grouped into data modules/factions
  • Description popups for almost every item
  • Items and actors can now be loaded into Craft!
  • New installer will ask if you want to remove EVERYTHING or leave your installed mods and settings
  • Lots more I can’t remember right now

UPDATE: Whoops, forgot to include a file that regulates the Skirmish fights. If you downloaded before this message appeared here, you can download a quick patch from here. If you are downloading the build now or later, don’t worry, the current setup file has been updated.

  15. J23 - # November 7th, 2008 at 2:12 pm

This might not be the right place to put it but..

    First bug:

When you go to the menu in a game, the menu music overrides the AWESOME BATTLE THEME.

    Second bug:

In the new mission you made, my brain has an all-consuming urge to leave the map, making me fail!

  16. grenade - # November 7th, 2008 at 2:14 pm

And where are enemys ? I load up shirmish grassland and i cant find any enemys

  19. Demnevanni - # November 7th, 2008 at 2:22 pm

Well, the new rocket launchers are definitely extremely awesome. I mean, rockets with thrusters AND explosions with rising smoke? FUCK YEAH

oh and grenade, allow me to quote from the very forum thread you have posted in:

“I’ll also post a temporary activities.ini that Data missed before he released.”

    Umm, yeah…..

  26. Zel - # November 7th, 2008 at 2:47 pm

grate job on the new level, though in this version, Skirmish mode is broken. the enemys won’t fly down any units, so there’s nothing to fight

Wohoo! Finally, can’t wait to test out the new stuff on this one.

  28. Tomaster - # November 7th, 2008 at 2:52 pm

    I WANT YOUR BABIES.

  41. Tomaster - # November 7th, 2008 at 4:43 pm

Just played some of the campaign. It’s excellent. I could probably just play with the guns themselves for a few days. Also love how the AI dives if they see me :D . Weapon descriptions next to almost all the weapons are awesome too, but why did you only describe a few of the actors? Awesome update no matter what.

  42. Warman - # November 7th, 2008 at 4:45 pm

    I wasn’t expecting a sudden release!
I’ll go play as soon as it’s done downloading! Thanks for this man!

I was just going out to Fun-Motion to brag that I got the Bump Top Private Beta. But THIS. THIS IS AMAZING.

  47. CantTouchTheGround - # November 7th, 2008 at 5:15 pm

There is a lack of a working activities :(

  48. KamikazeDuck - # November 7th, 2008 at 5:17 pm

New music, sounds and graphics are all awesome. Nice work guys.

  49. Jack - # November 7th, 2008 at 5:25 pm

Yeah skirmish is broken, music is bugged occasionally.
Some of the new content doesn’t feel ‘perfect’, like the old content does. The spritework isn’t consistant, some of the offsets don’t work, it needs some improvement if it is going to be considered official content.

  50. casey - # November 7th, 2008 at 5:36 pm

hmm… I remember making a suggestion for the new part of go-to back during build 16

  51. Smithno13 - # November 7th, 2008 at 5:37 pm

Woe to those coders who thought base.rte would never change – Many mods are broken.

  52. Xa - # November 7th, 2008 at 5:38 pm

Lol wut! A new build out of the clear sky! Thanks Data & other mighty powers involved! :D

  53. Aspect - # November 7th, 2008 at 5:53 pm

    amazing.
the scene is so amazing it looks like I’m actually IN a painting. also, it seems to be running like 1000 times faster. I can use a concrete gun now without lag! The exclamation points are totally tight. The doors are tight too.
OH NO! I forgot to test the goto ai!

  55. waffles - # November 7th, 2008 at 6:19 pm

I just found out that you can put actors back in most craft ACTORS amazing data just amzing!

  56. Prey King - # November 7th, 2008 at 7:17 pm

Up until now I was convinced that CC was doomed to crappiness. Congrats.

  57. zacness - # November 7th, 2008 at 7:51 pm

THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!
I LOVE YOU DATA, NUM, AND BUBS!

  59. Iwan - # November 7th, 2008 at 8:01 pm

Hello, I just wanted to let you know that I am 1 person who is interested in this game to have a linux version.

  60. Tomaster - # November 7th, 2008 at 9:08 pm

Also, I think now would be a good time to update the front page. :P Don’t think CC is game of the month anymore.

  61. Alenth - # November 7th, 2008 at 9:50 pm

Why is the music volume broken? I set it to 0 and the game constantly plays as if it were at 60 or something for no reason until I go and reaffirm the setting.

  62. Daniel - # November 7th, 2008 at 10:14 pm

Thank you Data! This is totally unexpected, thus that much more awesome! Can’t wait to play. :D

  63. Purple - # November 7th, 2008 at 10:35 pm

Why did you feel the need to remove colours with an innate glow? http://icanhasupload.com/11072008/palettenoglow.bmp

  64. UDM - # November 7th, 2008 at 11:12 pm

    Wow. That was sudden.

    Thanks so much Data!

  65. Data - # November 7th, 2008 at 11:41 pm

Purple, because it was super slow… it was basically going through every pixel of every frame, checking for colors and applying glow, all in software on the cpu.

This became a showstopper at higher resolutions, since there are that many more pixels to check each frame.

We are working alternative and smarter ways to apply glow back into the engine, for tracers etc.

  66. Data - # November 7th, 2008 at 11:42 pm

    Alenth: will look into it.

  67. casey - # November 7th, 2008 at 11:55 pm

Why is it that in skirmish mode, 2nd players controls won’t work and neither will ai. Did you just decide to disable it?

  68. Simon - # November 8th, 2008 at 12:15 am

Can’t wait for the Mac version!

  69. zacness - # November 8th, 2008 at 12:38 am

    Awesomeness.

    Thanks… :(

  76. Fujima - # November 8th, 2008 at 2:52 am

    Nice

  77. Alero - # November 8th, 2008 at 2:59 am

    mm.. its awesome but..

I didnt like the ronin faction dudes. i liked theyr guns, but not the characters. in all the other factions are “anonymous”, you dont see any face characteristics and i liked it that way, you were just one of the many, a nobody, just part some random part of the faction. But the ronin faction, when i first played with ronin dudes i felt like i was the leader of the whole clan.. it depends what youre after, but i liked the that you were just a part of a one big war machine. Also, the new weapons are cool, but i think theres too many. in previous versions there was one weapon for one job. Now there is so many weapons i have no clue which one to choose.

But the zombie mission was so cool… so cool.. <3

  78. Prey King - # November 8th, 2008 at 3:02 am

    @Warman

    They would be broken anyway.

Oh, and by the way; is it too late to praise you?

  79. Lazyfaith - # November 8th, 2008 at 4:20 am

oh my god! this shall be a day drl shall never forget :)

  80. Morbo - # November 8th, 2008 at 6:23 am

Awesome, released just after my birthday too! <3 DRL

  81. Morbo - # November 8th, 2008 at 6:31 am

Hmm, I downloaded it and it decides to randomly crash constantly. I think it might be the resolution I chose. Oh well, I’ll try reinstalling and if that don’t work I’ll post a more detailed report on the forums.

  82. JOOLA - # November 8th, 2008 at 6:51 am

Where the hell is Prom Grounds?!

  83. Morbo - # November 8th, 2008 at 7:48 am

Nevermind, Fixed it. The new build is awesome, but I have a couple of complaints. Firstly, when you put an actor back into a craft, it counts it as a loss. And the resolution I used with B21 (800×600), and alot of others can’t be used now (Both WVGA and SVGA) and it just says ‘Using normal VGA’ or something like that when I start it up, putting it back to 640×480. But overall, it’s great. I love the new weapons and factions and the new features are brilliant. Oh yes, the drop-box counts as a loss too.

  84. Geti - # November 8th, 2008 at 8:12 am

@Morbo: the drop box counts as a loss for the same reason as the Darkstorm Drop Pod. its a gibbing ACRocket.
note to data: maybe make a new class (ACDroppod) that doesnt count as a loss? just a rocket with less vars really. eh.

  85. Vattic - # November 8th, 2008 at 8:22 am

    Good stuff!

  86. Kallemort - # November 8th, 2008 at 8:26 am

So, a new build. When I’m away. Great.

Every single new build that has been released after I joined DRL, has been on a day I’m not here. I joined at August 2007, so there has been quite a few builds.

You people just hate me :<

  87. vetrox - # November 8th, 2008 at 8:32 am

Data! I love you! YESS, i swear to you, yesterday i asked myself “when is the next build?” <3 <3 <3

  90. Cevius - # November 8th, 2008 at 9:18 am

Holy frakken crap. A few AI updates indeed! These bastards are kicking my arse, and whats worse, is every time my fully decked out robots get wiped out, I throw arsenal at them that they start using.

This is still one of the best games ever, and it never ceases to provide new examples of how awesome it is.

    PS: BRING BACK FREE CRABS.

  102. Cobalt - # November 8th, 2008 at 12:22 pm

Mission is way too hard, just a pistol against a neverending stream of zombies with nades.

I can’t set the movement buttons to the directional keys (I’m left-handed), it’s simply impossible to play in WASD. I could in the older versions, why can’t I now?

    Other than that, awesome.

  103. Cobalt - # November 8th, 2008 at 12:23 pm

Wait, I’m just dumb, you can buy stuff, nevermind the first part.

  106. Bremze - # November 8th, 2008 at 12:39 pm

  107. Bremze - # November 8th, 2008 at 12:41 pm

And the controler maping is bugged, can’t assign some keys like num enter.

Yeah Bremze, you can’t set a lot of keys.

Yes. We. Can (load actors into craft).

  111. Foa - # November 8th, 2008 at 1:21 pm

I don’t see this “reactive AI actor behavior” , all I see are retarded zombies blowing themselves up as I dug through the CAVERN CEILING.

  116. Kilgannon - # November 8th, 2008 at 4:01 pm

I love the build, but there are some issues. Obvious ones are that the activities were fucked. Also the coalition weapons were split into Coalition Weapons and CoalitionWeapons (How did you miss these? Did you test it before you released?)
Also the new organization is awful. If I make a scene or edit the activities, it breaks because dummies, coalition, and ronin are not declared before base.rte. I wish it was all in one folder again, that worked fine, didn’t it?
Most of the coalition guns are far too powerful for far too cheap a price, in my opinion.
I do however love how easy it is to destroy debris and maneuver through it. Also it runs much much faster now. The new units and guns are all great, as well as the mission.

  117. Kilgannon - # November 8th, 2008 at 4:01 pm

Oh, forgot to mention – I fucking LOVE the new AI.

  118. MD - # November 8th, 2008 at 4:13 pm

    Some bugs:
-In setting controls I could not press the period “.” key for crouch, I had to settle for a letter key.

-Starting up I get the error “Unable to set specified graphics mode because: Resolution not supported! Now trying to default back to VGA…”. My resolution in 1024×760, dual-screen.

  119. Tomaster - # November 8th, 2008 at 5:04 pm

Ok, I just played through a skirmish match, and it was awesome. The AI did enjoy digging quite a lot, but that’s OK. They seemed fairly intelligent now. I probably played for 30 minutes without getting bored. Also, I’m not sure if this would require a re-haul or anything, but would there be a way to bring up a statistics screen at the end of the match?

  120. AaronLee - # November 8th, 2008 at 6:26 pm

  125. MegaMick - # November 8th, 2008 at 9:26 pm

I’ve played this build, and as a result, I’ve had more sex. Thanks Data!

Has the code been improved for more performance? This build is a lot smoother than Builds 21 and 20, on my weak laptop. It actually makes me feel my laptop has been upgraded!

Everything is so much better! Wow!

  126. Robok - # November 8th, 2008 at 9:34 pm

I must say, you’ve really outdone yourself on this one, the current build and all the new soundtracks in the game are really awesome, good job, mate.

On a side note: The campaign feels very bare, I know it’s still in its very early form, but you could include a briefing scene and a debriefing scene before/after each mission, it just feels too empty with the current way of completing the mission and just getting “WIN!”.

Anyhow, keep up the good work, currently I’m most definitely considering buying this.

  127. digitalstick - # November 8th, 2008 at 9:59 pm

i intalled it but it my registration is gone

    wtf!?!

  128. TFSR - # November 8th, 2008 at 10:04 pm

    Yeah, forums are down.
But goddamn, even keeping a unit alive is now a challenge. It used to be that simply burying my bunker would make the AI drown in its own blood; now, I can barely deploy a unit before it’s shot down (this is on Death mode, of course).

  129. grenade - # November 9th, 2008 at 3:08 am

MegaMick totally agree with you , i had 0.35 time scale at b21 and i have 0.65 time scale on b22 . But i cant say this is less laggy than b20 . B20 is the least laggy build i ever played .

  130. grenade - # November 9th, 2008 at 3:12 am

This is kinda off-topic , but its about b22 . I was trying to convert scene from b20 to b22 . As you know in b20 we had “MotherBrain” . In b22 we havent it . So i thought i just will change MotherBrain on BrainCase . So game showed me an error on line 70 – its MotherBrain . I’ve changed it again . And again there is error on line 70 – MotherBrain .

    WTF?!!!

  131. spider96 - # November 9th, 2008 at 5:51 am

Data The choice of your new workers was good you won’t regret picking numgun, especially that he made the “ALL faction” or watever its called it was good anyway lol

Rockin’ build. Awesome new music, new actors, and ZOMBIES.
I will now be able to make zombie survival scenes WOO!
Thanks so much for the new build Data.

  135. Voracious32 - # November 9th, 2008 at 10:02 am

Aww, dammit. Today is the day that I have to work hard to get caught up in school and not get distracted, and Build 22 gets released? AUGH.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! My computer is broken right now =’-{. Also I’m really hoping it runs well on the new computer I’m getting.

  139. Noah Burkholder - # November 9th, 2008 at 1:18 pm

Help! I try to change my controls but it only accepts Letters. And there isn’t enough space on my keyboard to hold 2 players controls without at least 3 of the controls being a symbol/number. Is there a patch for this?

  140. PX1K - # November 9th, 2008 at 1:32 pm

    Wow came suddenly, downloading now

  141. Xa - # November 9th, 2008 at 1:52 pm

Try to play with mouse + keyboard, you can’t even select what stuff you want to buy, it always buys the default stuff. (you can’t remove anything from the buying list)

    And ofc arrows/numpad ain’t working.

And offtopic, here’s a useful tip for those who play skirmish and your keyboard gets locked because of too many buttons pressed at the same time: stick two(or more) USB keyboards to your computer. (Works in every game that has the same “problem”) :)

  142. Traikilla - # November 9th, 2008 at 2:57 pm

    Wow…simply wow…
Every issue that bugged me in b21 is gone :D
I love the weapons btw, the explosions look super
Oh and the guns, the autocannon and the other one with similar shells (don’t remember the name right now) are great for artillery, but it would be tons cooler and well, natural if the shells fell at a high speed…I’m telling you this because it was the ONLY thing that took my attention by being “great”, not “perfect” like the rest of the build :D
(I know it’s WIP, you’re doing an awesome job on it guys :) )

  143. Jello - # November 9th, 2008 at 5:30 pm

This version is shit nothing works! all other builds work and this one nothing moves even when i change controls!

  144. coilgunner - # November 9th, 2008 at 6:29 pm

Wow was not expecting this so soon! I cant wait to start playing soon.

    Simply Awesome!

  145. CherryT - # November 9th, 2008 at 7:16 pm

Back from the graaaaaave to comment on Cortex Command.

    Buggers:
-If you try to pick up your brain (not the Brain Robot, though) with a dropship (and rocket I’m guessing, but it’s a lot easier to do with the dropship for obvious reasons), you lose the round. D:
-Sometimes the Ronin Bazooka does not arm. (Feature?)

In any case, great job on the new build. Thoroughly enjoyed the Zombie Mission. Now we need one where you’re working your way though an infested city/spaceport.

I love Bubs’ and Numgun’s new weapons, and ability to match which way a projectile is flying to its direction (which opens up about 50 new mod choices for me). Anyone and everyone who complains about how the 1 pixel showing at the bottom of Gun X is “really unprofessional” and is not “final version quality” needs to get a grip. The guns fooled me, so either I’m not paying enough attention or the complainers are paying too much. Besides, this ISN’T the final version. The guns look great and work fine 99.5% of the time.

A Scuttle Actor function would still be very useful (though, I suppose you could do it via Lua now).

    Go Team Data Realms!

  146. Divreus - # November 9th, 2008 at 8:40 pm

    btw:EPIC WIN

  147. jackflash - # November 9th, 2008 at 11:07 pm

  148. Geti - # November 9th, 2008 at 11:31 pm

dont you just love all of the people raging about control issues? learn to map your keys properly.
for those that want to use non-letter keys, grab a copy of your old settings.ini and copy the controls section. or if you dont back up these things, consider doing so or just using WASD+mouse
either way, im really enjoying this build.

  149. ARme - # November 10th, 2008 at 8:41 am

    Very Good release

I kept thinking about unfinite for a long time and got my brain boggled.

  152. Krumbs - # November 10th, 2008 at 3:42 pm

Oooh boy do I love that fire effect, and the new mission. And I’m really glad their are more weapons and actors, but when will you replace that awful coalition un-helmeted head.

I can’t even tell what it’s supposed to be!

  153. Xa - # November 10th, 2008 at 6:04 pm

“I can’t even tell what it’s supposed to be!”

    The clone’s brain?

  160. Octyl - # November 11th, 2008 at 10:26 am

    I really don’t think that’s his brain. It’s hair.

  161. Mr. Magoolachub - # November 12th, 2008 at 6:07 am

Well gee Data, this is just excellent. I haven’t had this much fun playing a game in a while.

  162. Agashka - # November 12th, 2008 at 3:18 pm

    Congrats on the new release.
Just wanted to say; I’ve known this project for a little while now, and it’s freaking awesome. I will eventually buy it once it comes something more playable (ie campaigns!)

  163. Hiro - # November 12th, 2008 at 3:35 pm

    @ Octyl and Krumbs

The orange thing on the clones head is actually just a placeholder sprite for when prom eventually makes the brain. It was mentioned in the forums at some point by Prom or Data.

  164. Krumbs - # November 12th, 2008 at 3:59 pm

I know it’s a placeholder, I just don’t know what it is supposed to be.

    Hair?

  165. James - # November 12th, 2008 at 7:09 pm

Theres £26 set aside in my bank account waiting for that Mac version :)
Awesome release, was playing it at a friends house.

  166. Tomaster - # November 12th, 2008 at 8:56 pm

It’s a “placeholder”, which means it’s nothing, just a crap sprite or something.

  167. f0rked - # November 13th, 2008 at 3:45 am

I totally didn’t realise you could buy other actors in the zombie mission – did the whole thing with just the brain-bot and a pistol haha. Awesome build though, love the variety of weapons without having to resort to any unbalanced mods. Now we just need more official scenes!

  168. Azukki - # November 13th, 2008 at 3:59 pm

I’ve always assumed it was the hairless top of the head, and that the darker shades got messed up and darker because of the palette, or something.

  169. Nick - # November 13th, 2008 at 11:40 pm

Any chance of an update email going out to everyone who has a registered copy to tell them about the new version being released?

That would be a great help, and it would mean we all get the latest version ASAP. (okay I am just being greedy, but I do enjoy the game that much)

  170. L7D - # November 14th, 2008 at 1:11 am

I have been getting the Abortion error like the other guys, except my game worked fine until i tried to create a scene. I saved it and it said something in the error about the new scene i tried to save. i deleted it and the error goes to something else. uhg.

  171. Geti - # November 14th, 2008 at 4:11 am

pff i think its a buzzcut. cooler that way.

  172. Skiv - # November 14th, 2008 at 8:12 am

    @L7D
delete the scene from scenes.ini It shoould be in the end of the .ini

  173. Tea - # November 14th, 2008 at 9:55 am

I really don’t like bubs’ flames.
    They just don’t fit in.

  174. Arnkh - # November 14th, 2008 at 11:35 am

God… I mean Data… this is fantastic! Abducting some poor enemy clones is so much more fun than just shooting them, and definitely more fun than mining! 8)

  175. Krumbs - # November 14th, 2008 at 11:38 am

I love them, although they do look a bit like Metal Slug flames.

Still, I think flames should still be used. Does the fire do damage? I think it does…

  176. Promo - # November 14th, 2008 at 4:27 pm

You cant change the controls of P2 nor actually use P2 on a single keyboard.

    promo is not impressed

    ALTHOUGH

the rest of the game is fantastic, played for 2 hours straight :D

  177. Tomaster - # November 14th, 2008 at 4:47 pm

    @Promo
    Yes you can.

  178. Nintendo-Guy - # November 14th, 2008 at 6:49 pm

This is awesome. But I can’t seen to “install” mods without getting an error on the startup. I’m just suposed to put it in the cortex command folder right? And yes i’ve downloaded the mods capable of build 22.

  179. Geti - # November 14th, 2008 at 7:58 pm

i think the flames should smoke, MOSParticles need to be able to have emitters attached… i like them though, we just need more variation between them, and some smaller ones.

  180. war_man333 - # November 15th, 2008 at 2:54 am

    @Tomaster
Yes you can but you can’t set them to the numpad keys. I can’t atleast. It sucks.

  181. Frenzy95 - # November 15th, 2008 at 2:05 pm

    I think i found a bug.

i played the zombie cave mission fine everything worked.
i changed player 2 controls and played skirmish all of a sudden i couldnt change or move units i could do everything else fine.

  182. Frenzy95 - # November 15th, 2008 at 2:07 pm

    Sorry for double posting:
i think everybodys got the bug.

  183. Tea - # November 15th, 2008 at 5:24 pm

Couldn’t you just have something in the settings.ini for enabling glow for those of us who CAN handle it?

  184. Nintendo-Guy - # November 15th, 2008 at 6:10 pm

I’d really need some help with my problem. Why can’t I add mods without getting an error?

  185. Promo - # November 15th, 2008 at 9:31 pm

I sort of fixed the problem lol.

I just used my PS3 controller for P2

  186. war_man333 - # November 16th, 2008 at 2:52 am

That isn’t fixing it, numpad still doesn’t work.

  188. ARme - # November 16th, 2008 at 3:09 pm

Could you please add a Mission section to the mod forum ?
So it would be possible to quickly find any mission as I really enjoy the zombie cave official one !

    Thanks

  189. ARme - # November 16th, 2008 at 3:11 pm

Yeah I also have that keyboard bug (running a windows XP with french(Belgium) layout. Two player was impossible on some keys.
Also A/W Q/Z (and so on) was inverted as AZERTYUIOP (this dumb bug really annoying me on most us game !).

  190. Lord Tim - # November 16th, 2008 at 4:05 pm

It would seem that you’ve changed how GameActivities work. It would be really really cool if you would make the Activity’s UpdateActivity function available from whatever ActivityMan:GetActivity() returns. That’d be super cool.

  191. the Bob - # November 16th, 2008 at 4:44 pm

my cortex command wont work i have windows vista.
i start the free download and it says menuenter.wav can not be found but it’s right there.

if you can give me some help that would be great. thanks :-)

i really want to play this

  192. Cighton - nothgiC - # November 16th, 2008 at 6:43 pm

Yes! Me buying this game pays off! Thanks Data!

  193. Tomaster - # November 16th, 2008 at 8:33 pm

    @Lord Tim
Can you explain that in stupid terms?

  194. Lord Tim - # November 16th, 2008 at 11:41 pm

Basically, right now Data takes the scene lua files and converts them into a special Activity class that only has a certain few functions. He doesn’t really use the lua file as a lua file, so the functions in this file themselves (i.e. TutorialMission:UpdateActivity()) can’t be used except internally.

What I want is to have those functions in the open so that I can make a sortof parasite activity. It would get the currently running activity’s Update function and make a new activity that did some stuff and then called the original Update. That way, you could basically have two activities running at the same time, and they don’t need to be hardcoded to work that way.

Specifically, I’m making a WeatherSystem activity-ish mod. Currently, I cannot make it entirely the way I want, but with that small change, I would be able to have, say, the weather running, and inside that you could also be playing KloneSoccer or regular Deathmatch. Without the change, you have to specifically specify what the game logic will be. You can’t have weather on all scenes.

  195. Tomaster - # November 17th, 2008 at 6:38 am

Oh, OK, I get it now. That’d be awesome if he did that.

  196. pepi - # November 17th, 2008 at 11:46 am

much better than 21. but… i want more i want to be the whole game (+campaign) to be ready soon

    maybe too soon…

  216. James - # November 21st, 2008 at 1:48 pm

Sorry we just love Cortex Command and can’t wait to see it running native on macs :(
The last thing we want is a shitty port though, so even if it takes much longer as long as its solid we will be happy!

  217. Ollieh - # November 21st, 2008 at 8:46 pm

    Awesome build.
But, I’ve got a problem. I have to keep reinstalling after I’ve run the game a few times. Also, when I build a map, exit the game and try to start up, sometimes it gives me an error concerning the map.

I love gatling gun/Yak 4700, but it seems a little overpowered. Same with Lasergun.

Hi data, I really Really REALLY like the then version keep up the good work. Also I have some suggestions and things that that you should read/fix.

-Gold dig doesnt work, mabie making 2 different AI things for the actors might work, give it a try :)

-Also you should add a conquest mode mode to your game, where 2 different teams start at the ends of the world and fight to get territories or control points on the world, first person to wipe out the opposing players empire wins! (email me for more ideas on that)

-Snow and lava would be exelent for more turf.

-Also, heath packs would also be really cool.

Again really good job on CC and sorry if I made my text a little too long

  234. Azukki - # November 23rd, 2008 at 11:21 pm

    @224 Mad SERGIYKO

    It’s not Japanese, it’s gibberish.
I literally closed my eyes, hit several keys, and rearranged them in a pronounceable order, when coming up with a username.

But apparently ‘Azuki’ (one ‘K’) is indeed a type of Asian bean that’s cultivated in Japan. I hadn’t known that until about ten minutes ago.

  235. Coops - # November 24th, 2008 at 9:13 am

Well actually Azukki can still be Japanese..

  244. Letter Six - # November 27th, 2008 at 12:58 am

    Suggestion for build 23:
    Limited Ammo!

I know that everyone enjoys being able to hole up
and sit there with their gatling gun for twenty minutes
at a time, but a while ago I tried makeing all my weapons
have minute long reload times, and a lot of ammo in their
clips so that once you run out you’d have to go find another
weapon. This worked, until you accidentally reload out of reflex.
Anyways, for a new spice to the game and to keep the players on their toes, limited ammo should at least be an option. It’s very fun!

  245. Danny - # November 27th, 2008 at 4:07 pm

I was about to go ahead and purchase the game but at the checkout page my Mcaffee blipped saying it had links to sites with spyware/keylogger. obviously i didnt proceed with entering my credit card number.

    please explain?

  246. Data - # November 27th, 2008 at 6:10 pm

Danny: Sorry, but we have no idea what is causing your McAfee protection to go off. I’m guessing a false positive alarm.

Ask McAfee’s support to explain why it is doing it there specifically, and let us know what links exactly are causing it if you figure it out.

  247. Tomaster - # November 27th, 2008 at 9:46 pm

    @Data
Why do you never answer our questions about Dev-Log moderation? :(
