[UPDATE: The instructional video will come after some fundamental things are changed in the metagame, like the tiresome scanning mechanic etc]

I am going to add a video and talk about the now playable metagame/campaign here soon, but I just wanted everyone who previously bought the game to not have to wait and be able to download the newest version right away:
http://licensing.datarealms.com/licensing/

Use your email and old license key as password (all UPPERCASE) to get access to Windows, Mac, and Linux variants of Build 25, without any kind of DRM!
You can now play anywhere, anyhow without having to worry about registering license keys etc. If you forgot your old license key, just use the password reset feature on that page.

We worked hard on this one; I hope you enjoy the campaign mode with your friends, even in its current rough state!

    Awesome! Testing right away!

Btw, can I download it from my Humble Bundle?

  2. Data - # August 4th, 2011 at 2:44 am

    sure can!

  3. Asmageddon - # August 4th, 2011 at 3:01 am

What about the older bundles? (just asking)

Will they keep getting updated, or will there be a bundle with every CC build?

  4. Midna - # August 4th, 2011 at 3:02 am

    BUENO.

  5. Data - # August 4th, 2011 at 3:10 am

asma: there will be gift keys made available to all old bundlers, on their download page.. probably after the HIB3 is over and the organizers have time to add it

  6. Asmageddon - # August 4th, 2011 at 3:16 am

Also, you screwed Linux version again. It runs at extremely choppy framerate, around 1/4 of the speed Windows version under Wine does.

Similar problem in Hammerfight was fixed by setting CORE_USE_SLEEP to false in settings. I believe it is a SDL option that can be changed in CC as well.

  7. Data - # August 4th, 2011 at 3:22 am

cc doesn’t use SDL.. I’ll forward the feedback to the people who made the port

  8. FinDude - # August 4th, 2011 at 3:24 am

Good luck changing SDL options in an Allegro game.

The new build looks cool. I just hope HIBs aren’t the only way to get CC builds released though.
They’ll eventually include every game that ever existed or will exist, and that will mean no more bundles are to come.

  9. Asmageddon - # August 4th, 2011 at 3:29 am

Oh, right. Well, Linux version works like crap, and I can’t seem to get it to work in Wine(haven’t used it in a long while, so no libs or anything)

  10. Asmageddon - # August 4th, 2011 at 4:20 am

After some testing, I reached following conclusion as to playing on Linux: Windows version under Wine is faster than Linux one, fullscreen mode is significantly faster, and setting resolution to 512×368 and scaling to 2x make it much, much, much faster.

  11. TheLogan - # August 4th, 2011 at 9:15 am

I just downloaded the windows version and the file downloaded without the .exe extension, not a problem for me really just add it myself, but for someone less computer savy it might pose quite a challenge to get it working =)

  12. Airburst - # August 4th, 2011 at 11:00 am

Have my dreams finally come true?!?!?
    NEED TO PLAY NOW!!!

  13. ToonyMan - # August 4th, 2011 at 1:21 pm

    Yah Data!

  14. war_man333 - # August 5th, 2011 at 6:16 am

Hooray! A build which offers nearly nothing new…

  15. Samohan25 - # August 5th, 2011 at 6:40 am

Thanks for fixing the multiplayer sharp aim problem, campaign is awesome, can’t wait to see what else you’re adding.

  16. Cody - # August 5th, 2011 at 10:17 am

When you say old license key you just mean one I’ve purchased before, right?
Cause I wasn’t able to sign in using the key I got when I purchased it 8/25/09, but I just used the password-reset thing, and it worked…but I’m wondering why it didn’t work to begin with. 😀

  17. Cody - # August 5th, 2011 at 11:24 am

Oh and of course, thanks for the update + that twitter feed Data ^.^
Now if I only had somebody to play CC with 🙁

  18. Dabingo - # August 5th, 2011 at 2:48 pm

Alright, I start the tutorial, immediately says I’ve failed and the brain has been destroyed.

  19. Foogooman - # August 5th, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Is engine optimization going to be worked on soon? This build runs even worse than the last.

  20. ShiroTheSniper - # August 5th, 2011 at 4:30 pm

    Can’t change the resolution with this version… even if i uninstall / reinstall… 😐 Win7 64bits

  21. Foogooman - # August 5th, 2011 at 7:35 pm

Cortex Command is a great game but it’s really getting to be barely playable because of how poorly it runs.

  22. Data - # August 5th, 2011 at 8:21 pm

Dabingo: it’s a known issue with this build when you install over an old version – just uninstall completely and reinstall and the tutorial will work fine.

Foogoo: yup we have only been focusing on getting features implemented and working; next is polishing and optimizing it to run better!

  23. TheLogan - # August 5th, 2011 at 8:49 pm

Doesn’t seem to be that much new stuff..
Data are you making this game on your own at the side as a a smaller project or while you have a “real” job? not meant as an accusation but the game just isnt updated very often and each time only very little is added at least visually

  24. war_man333 - # August 6th, 2011 at 8:10 am

friends on facepunch mentioned a lot of lua stuff has been added

  25. Dabingo - # August 6th, 2011 at 10:32 am

Data: Still not working. Completely uninstalled and reinstalled, but no dice. We’re talking about the tutorial in the campaign, right?

  26. Data - # August 6th, 2011 at 11:51 am

Dabingo – hm I will have to look into it more closely then. The video we’re working on will walk you through the metagame and how it’s played though, so stay tuned

  27. Billi999 - # August 7th, 2011 at 3:50 pm

Wow, I’m so excited for this! Just one little problem…When I put my email address and license key on the licensing page and click Login, it seems to just do nothing but clear the “e-mail:” and “Password:” lines, and then when I click Forgot Password it says “Cannot Find User”.

  28. Data - # August 8th, 2011 at 1:43 am

bill: try the password reset feature on that page? (“forgot password” button)

  29. Billi999 - # August 8th, 2011 at 3:24 am

Thanks Data, but I already tried that. When I enter my e-mail address and a new password it says “Cannot Find User.”

  30. Data - # August 9th, 2011 at 12:49 am

means you used a diff address for your original reg. email us at support@datarealms.com and we’ll fix it

  31. missing_cipher - # August 9th, 2011 at 1:46 pm

Hey Data, I bough the 2nd bundle, the CC download link points to “ccsetup25-1.exe”, is this the latest build?

  32. Mooseral - # August 9th, 2011 at 6:31 pm

Good job! Looking forward to trying this out with some buddies.

  33. Mooseral - # August 9th, 2011 at 6:45 pm

Is it just me, or does the campaign not let you land if you have not already explored a site? Also, seems a bit odd that you can’t control the first drop ship. Also also, seems a bit odd that you have to land if it’s an unchallenged sortie.

    Nonetheless, this is pretty sweet.

  34. TheLogan - # August 10th, 2011 at 11:20 am

    @Mooseral
No, you can land also if you havnt scanned the area, but remember there are two stages, the stage where you can scan and not land and then the stage where you can land but not scan (its a bit confusing at first)
    Hope this helps =)

  35. MaximDude - # August 27th, 2011 at 4:51 pm

May I suggest drop-down menus in the buy menu for anything that has more than 5 items in the next build?
It’s a real pain in the ass going through every item in the list just to find whatever you are looking for.

  36. RaptorX9 - # September 14th, 2011 at 3:51 pm

Data, thank you for putting so much of your time and effort into this game for us. I guess I am one of the “Veterans” of CC, and I recently read the thread on General CC Discussion how some fans/other dev’s are criticizing you.
For what? The petty few dollars we payed you for this epic creation of ultimate fan modification?

You deserve a well pat on the back for what you’ve done and are doing 🙂
    Keep up the good work!

    PS
    Love the new build!
I’ve checked every day since the pre-releases for a new build, and I love it when new ones are released =D

  37. Data - # September 14th, 2011 at 4:48 pm

Thanks Raptor! I appreciate the support 🙂

  38. TB87670 - # September 14th, 2011 at 9:05 pm

Data, you’re doing good work. Slow, but good work. The need to play a disembodied brain is now fulfilled!
