I just received this blog entry in my email box and didn’t quite understand when I look at the video.
Did you completely stop working on Cortex Command Data ?

Last time I checked (long time ago) plenty of cool meta-game things was about to happen but not yet developed/included.
Did you finally succeed in this ?

    Planetoid Pioneers sounds intriguing.

So is cortex command still getting a story mode? Or is it getting dropped for this game? Or is it the same story?

Is CC still getting a story mode? Or is it getting dropped for this game? Or is it the same story?

Wait, is this Cortex Command under a new name or a new project entirely?

It’s been eons since I last checked the devlog and I see two new entries, both related to this ‘cave engine’ crap. x)

Give it up, people. Cortex Command is dead.
Data released his unfinished piece of crap on Steam, collected money and that’s that.

Data, congrats on getting your half-arsed product out on Steam and conning people into paying money for it. Kudos.

Gotcha: CC as a project isn’t dead, but it’s coming to a close. 12+ years is enough to work on one thing, and we’re moving onto the next project… which will be much better (mainly because I’m not programming it). I am proud of where CC is and how playable it is today; it is far more than I envisioned when I originally set out to make it. That said, we do have various fixes/improvements and workshop integration is still on its way. I gave working on it a break for a year in large part because of rude attitudes and comments like the one you just posted… it kindof kills my motivation to serve you, see?

Eventual open-sourcing is not out of the question, so perhaps then you can make it into whatever you had personally expected it to become!

Data, mind just putting up a small vlog or something, just to tell us what exactly is happening with CC, why there has been delays and such, why you’re not posting anything about it?

  13. MD_R - # September 13th, 2013 at 5:47 am

Ok guys give Data a break, this new engine looks worlds better than CC’s ever could be (you ever seen vehicles act that good in CC) and they still plan on supporting CC im sure. It is not that big of a deal that they want to improve on the formula that made CC great and create a new IP… and CC needs no story or real campaign, it plays perfect the way it is. it only need workshop integration and bug fixes… I say if it aint broke dont fix it.

Also, any future comments I find even mildly rude or unconstructive will immediately go bye-bye, so i suggest you don’t waste your time writing them :]

  15. Data - # September 13th, 2013 at 8:09 am

An yep, we are making a post that will explain everyhting regarding the new project shortly – sorry I kindof jumped the gun by posting the video above, but i coudn’t help myself after PAX :]

Some people need to learn some patience. Take your time Data, the update sounds great.

  17. Nappa - # September 13th, 2013 at 11:19 pm

the master has spoken and gave us a sign, even when we’re not worthy enough, a sign of better future and some updates

  18. Ronald Reagan - # September 14th, 2013 at 8:09 am

Keep up the good work, Data.

  19. pieman280 - # September 14th, 2013 at 2:40 pm

Please whenever you do update CC, get it working for fullscreen again for those of us that cannot seem to run it anymore like that.

Anyways this game looks interesting, I hope it comes along well. Good luck with it. 🙂

When you get excited about a DRL game, keep in mind: Data spends 11 months of each year in cryogenic stasis to ensure he gets to see the future.
