    I think we’ve all been harshing on you a bit much Mr. Tabar. It seems like you are making excellent progress on BOTH CC and the CVE, and are motivating the development team to continue their contributions to CC. I congratulate you on a job very well done, and I hope to see you and your company thrive in the videogame industry.

    Please, by all means take your time in CC’s development (just don’t become VALVe). Quality is better than quantity (of releases) I always say!

    But in all seriousness, how is B24 coming? Do you have any internal deadlines you’d like to share so people can get a general feel for what’s being done and when?

    PacificV2, what are you talking about? The art is CC art, and it shows what’s in store for the content of future builds. It has everything to do with the development of CC.

    Meanwhile, Minecraft -explodes- with publicity as they are featured on the page of the Team Fortress 2 development blog, granting Minecraft the possibility to be exposed to anybody that plays TF2 on PC.

    Why?
    Because one man felt that as difficult as it would be to add a multiplayer feature to a game that procedurally generates maps of -infinite- size, it would enhance the experience of the game for the players as well as the game itself.

    Yesterday when I saw the number of MC sales, it was ~36k.
    Today, it’s ~37k.
    At $10/game…
    That’s ten thousand dollars in a single day.

    Do you see what I mean now about how much multiplayer could do for this game? [As I have bitched about it in other CC blog posts :P ]

    This is the kind of exposure Cortex Command is missing out on.
    Moreso, it could bring in swaths of talented individuals [such as CaveCricket, Zalo, and TheLastBanana] that could lend a hand in development, and I -know- Tabar wouldn’t mind the extra money.

    Seriously Dan, think about it. Long, and hard.

    TONS0PHUN: You do know that Minecraft and CC aren’t really comparable? It’s not about what “should” be included. It’s about what “can” be included. Minecraft doesn’t do per-pixel physics calculations. The world is very much a static array that just gets updated in the server when people dig/build and loaded into the client as divided world-segments.

    Besides, from programmer viewpoint – adding multiplayer to minecraft is easy – sending plain, gzipped chunks of data? No problem with infinite maps, and rest is just a standard fps-style movement, objects, etc.
    As for Cortex Command – adding multiplayer would be just plain impossible, since, as Atomictroop mentioned – it does per-pixel physics, and here even slightest lag or difference in fps would result in desync and disconnection.
    It WOULD be possible to do, but it would be slow, buggy and limited no matter how hard you try to correct it.

    CC also has multitudes of unnecessary calculations as well, such as particles having values of rotation.

    I live in the middle of nowhere, ive got nothing better to do than play cc/ script. all my friends are busy and everyone else is a stoner/chav. it really sucks.
