In this week of examples of recent tech breakthroughs that bring us closer to the world of Cortex Command; behold the first stable, artificial osteocutaneous (“bone-skin”, in this case metal-skin) interface:
The process of merging the skin and the metal pin is similar to the way that skin interacts with deer antlers. This breakthrough, although great for prosthetics, is also a prerequisite for making permanent, wired brain-computer interfaces. Otherwise, the physical ports into the body would risk getting infected all the time.
There’s already significant work done on how to decode visual signals going to the brain (more), so the video-in jack on the back of my head that I’ve always wanted can’t be far off! No more need to sit upright, staring at a monitor all day — or to use hands on a keyboard/mouse, for that matter… bring on the interface revolution!

Soon, your dream will be realised Data! Soon, we will all become Cortex Commanders…
I knew that brain jar I bought would come in handy one day, I knew!
Meh.
I want some brain controlled fps 😀
3rd!! 🙂
2Seraph
Or cortex commanded
yay, this means we’re getting something new soon, its just been delayed. im glad data has a keen interest in new technology, im learning about all kinds of crazy stuff in between releases.
oh, i just remembered what was said and figured why the new build is a bit off, because the release is going to match up the windows and mac builds all the features from the new windows build will have to be ported before release.
cool 🙂
Yay! I’m gonna be a brain hacker! 😀
Megamick if you became a brain hacker wouldent you get a brain virus from your computer? :D.
@Jangorulz
Last time I checked, computers can’t have meningitis.
Also, I’ve always wanted a USB Port in the back of my head, transfer thoughts to the computer anyone? 😀
After brain-computer technology is sustained, the Cortex Commanders shall rule the world! And if there’s ever a war across the technology, we already know how to win! Open up Cortex Command and send the files to the war! >:D
I want metal jaws and teeth. And artificial lungs that can separate oxygen from water.
wow. thats not insane at all. whens the release estamite?
That’s pretty cool.
Build 23?
Did Data ever mention that one video game that is controlled with your mind?
@ Zinc
Exactly, just load up DSTech and order anything, you’ll automatically win every war.
Yay DaTa is posting more dev logs.
Data is either in caps or a proper noun, regardless to the fact it’s a contraction of his full name.
DaTa looks awful. Random caps in usernames irk me.
Anyways, this is cool stuff. B23 coming soon would also be cool.
So where’s the lua console in real life? I can’t find it.
Data, with all this Science, you could make a robot to write CC for you. Then you could program it to give out random release dates and everything! 😀
win
@tim: epic win on the last sentence.
Data, I’m sure we all love you dearly, and we don’t want you to shoot us with that AK-47 of yours, but seriously. It’s been a week since the release date and no build 23.
Wow, Data, you seem to really want your universe to come to life…but it would be pretty awesome to create a virtual world for yourself, one that could fulfill any desire you have, and you could live there instead of here…and…sorry, rambling again.
I notice your RSS feed machine is working. At least you got some work out of that robot.

AALs can stop DSTechs 🙂
NeXt ReLeAsE!?!?! wHeN!?!?!?!
Yes but if you havea usb port inheback f your head you would need to replace some of your brain with some tech shit and that part will be infected:\.
I propose when we all become Cortex commanders FOR REAL we go on a war of purification and kill all others that scoff at cortex command!
btw, cool tech is cool.
The problem with a video in jack on the back of your head:
The back of your head is so damn inaccessible!
Put it under your jaw or next to your eyes or something.
There’s just not enough dexterity working behind your back for you to plug anything in with any finesse/speed.
What do you mean, Jay? You can easily reach around to the back of your head, so long as you don’t have to fiddle with buttons or switches on the device you plug in.
“video-in jack on the back of my head”
Oh, they have those. For like a million dollars and absolutely horrid quality, and that’s if you do the training and get the super-invasive surgery. And they’d probably only try it if you were blind.
I just watched a thing about it on the science channel.

oh and they can only use it for an hour a day
hey this may be random but i cant seem to get my 360 controller to work on my computer. its a wireless so i use the charge and play cord but it should still work right? anyone please help
Hi Data
Do you think a more complete version of Cortex Command will be available for Christmas ? Or is it preferable to wait new year for a gift license ?
A version with some more contents would be appreciated.
@Darkmatter. It wont work, you’ll need a wireless adapter.
@darkmatter:
what i did to get that to work is plug in the controller, have it install its driver software, and restart my comp. make sure it is plugged in when you load CC. and make sure you configure using gamepad 1 and dual analog.
will the logitech rumblepad 2 work with cortex command?
Cortex Command was recently featured on jayisgames.com with a very positive review. Hope it brings in some more customers. Click my name to see the review.
NOTYOURDOG: It probably will although there wont be any rumble.
So, uh… will b23 be under the virtual tree?
^ That’s what I’m hoping for
(hint, hint)
Are we going to get something for the holidays? 😛 *cough*B23*cough*
To answer your question ye in the past.
No.
*sigh*
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas everyone.
Merry Christmas Data! And to all the developing team. Good work, I love it.
merry chri-
that’s right, no b23 🙁
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Data you are awesome, I’m making a game myself and seeing CC in action makes me appreciate all the effort you put into this a little bit more, hope you had a very awesome christmas!
Prom (if you actually read this), Your arting skills are very inspirational, keep it up, hope you had a very awesome christmas!
Numgun and Capn’bubsy, thanks for being excellent insiders for the whole CC community, hope you also had an awesome christmas.
