Simon Cottee (AKA ExplodingBarrel) from Australia sent in some really charming art inspired by Cortex Command. We liked it so much we thought it warranted sharing here:

Hehe, pretty funny. I like the design of the robot. It looks really cool, and the expression on it is funny.

Ooh. I might work on some fan art then… you might have to wait until after christmas though.

Looks painfull. Too bad rockets don’t make shrapnel upon destruction or that robot would get completely pwned.

  7. Foogooman - # December 21st, 2006 at 4:27 pm

    Hey, that’s a good idea, ticket…

Gibbing rockets! Aren’t they already working on that?

  8. Kaito - # December 21st, 2006 at 4:30 pm

sorry for the double post but. I’ve found a bug. if you dig to they Grey stuff it starts to lag. and now for a helpful analogy to aid in seeing this lag. if you ran this with windows 98 with a virus and and super lag ability. you’d be 3/4 of the lag. an extreme exaggeration but still its so bad i have to restart the game.

p.s. to stop the wining babies why don’t you make the next build with the ability to toggle the ability to bring gold to the ship.

p.s.s. make it so you can reload people and weapons into the ship.

  14. The Punisher - # December 22nd, 2006 at 11:54 am

I agree on you with the p.s.s… lol…

  15. makeshifter - # December 22nd, 2006 at 3:16 pm

man i write really long notes. any way the bug I’ve found is that at those two posts in any version of the game is that you health and ammo thing disappears and you keep one leg behind you and jump as if you have one leg not only is this annoying but it made me lose my lower torso once. fix it please

  16. makeshifter - # December 22nd, 2006 at 3:48 pm

yay more criticism. I’ve come to using the AI as part of my shielding. only problem is that if the ship is going to take damage getting out of a hole AND it knows this it will automatically kill its self. even if its only a little damage.

  17. Foogooman - # December 23rd, 2006 at 12:20 pm

I gotta say, gibs and dropships are the best things to ever happen to any game ever.

  18. wiped - # December 23rd, 2006 at 12:47 pm

heh… i can only say nice work πŸ˜‰

  19. Afroded - # December 23rd, 2006 at 7:22 pm

  21. Afroded - # December 24th, 2006 at 1:27 pm

data, wat will the next test build hav? The only thing i know about is the skeleton.

are there going to be vechicles? i mean other than the dropship and the rocket. will there be mechs and hovertanks? So many things you could put into that game. also, a suggestion is to make a half-clone. That would be kool. Are you making an online version?

  22. The Punisher - # December 25th, 2006 at 4:58 am

I dont think there will be mechs and hovertanks… But a working scroll bar will be in the next build… And online verison… That gonna take a long time…

  23. Anonymous - # December 25th, 2006 at 8:20 am

Could u not make cortex command shareware DATA?

  24. ThatGuy - # December 25th, 2006 at 8:22 am

I think a hovertank could be fully possible. It could function like a dropship, except it cannot fly above a certain limit (etc. the height of the ground).

  25. The Punisher - # December 26th, 2006 at 2:21 am

ThatGuy :: Make one and let me see…

  26. ThatGuy - # December 26th, 2006 at 6:33 am

I mean it’s possible, just not in the current code. I could make a re-skin of the dropship to a tank but it would still just work as a dropship. (Maybe something to look forward to in a future version? *hint*)

  27. makeshifter - # December 26th, 2006 at 2:35 pm

well so far i just hope that online gaming will happen at least by the 15. but thats wish full thinking. also to thatguy and punisher why a hover tank why not a real car then you can satisfyingly grind the clones to bits get blood all over your car it would be fun.

Damnit, it has been seven days and still no blog updates, I atleast hope your going to remove rocket AI, the rocket AI makes retards look like geniuses! (no offense)

  30. Lorne Whiting - # December 27th, 2006 at 6:41 pm

What is with you people and the fucking rocket AI? Can’t you just ADAPT?

  31. Invertin - # December 28th, 2006 at 4:08 am

The AI is useful, order something, then wait. You’ll get it without the rocket, or cargo, being harmed in any way. If you want to order a ship just so you can crash it, order 1 frag shell, the ship will come down to drop it off so you can switch to it without it escaping. The rocket AI is very smart actually, it only crashed twice on my comp so far and that was just because I flew my rocket into the side of it while it flew away! Speaking of which, one time I managed to hit a clone in mid-air with a rocket!

  32. makeshifter - # December 28th, 2006 at 10:53 am

hey data could you make one of the rockets with war heads and make it fly better you could run it right into the enemy base go missiles!

  33. Giant.Metal.Idiot - # December 29th, 2006 at 12:17 am

Well for me the rocket AI does lots of stupid stuff, fly into my soldiers, drop off all the frag grenades I planned to use right on top of my brain, return when I don’t want them to, basically, we need to be able to toggle rocket AI!
