Mod Contest 5 just went up!

– Make a weapon or an actor that is related to something undead.
– Undead does not specifically mean zombies. It could refer to ghosts, vampires, werewolves, or any other creatures of the night.
– Furthermore, the object itself doesn’t need to be undead, it just has to involve the undead.

Check out the official rules and discuss the contest in the forum.

from email:
“I’ve definitely got diabolical things planned, but Data was at TIGJam this last week and is utterly exhausted. πŸ™‚ Soon we’ll be on track and posting regularly.”

4. Duh102 - # October 14th, 2009 at 6:56 pm

I would have been entertained by a summary of TIGJam… Or the pictures of the eventual bar hop.

5. Geti - # October 14th, 2009 at 8:35 pm

yeah, im sure its coming in some form or another. the fact that andy replied within 3 hours has me consoled, as well as a bit shocked. email from DRL within 3 working days? you must be joking.

*Crosses arms*

7. Azukki - # October 15th, 2009 at 5:19 pm

Airburst, sort of funny reading that.

“Ability to force reload of all ini’s without restarting game, will be in next build.”

8. Tomaster - # October 15th, 2009 at 5:24 pm

@Geti
I sent off an email last week and still haven’t gotten the e-mail.

9. Mooseral - # October 15th, 2009 at 6:30 pm

@Airburst

It even has a working gold dig AI!
(it’s funny ’cause it’s true)

Also, I need a new screen name. This one seems to have a 50% spelling fail rate. πŸ™

10. Ch33n - # October 16th, 2009 at 12:32 am

@MOOSERAL: I want those working Gold Dig AI BAD…

12. ^^^thatguy^^^ - # October 16th, 2009 at 8:31 am

I notice that when devlog rate goes down that the random posts of hate go up…

CURSE YOU TIGJAM!!!!!!!!!!!

13. The Man - # October 16th, 2009 at 1:01 pm

I think Andy may have died

14. Geti - # October 16th, 2009 at 2:34 pm

He’s online on the forums now..

15. pieman - # October 16th, 2009 at 3:11 pm

Did data fire andy? [/sarcasm]

I guess he just ran out of things to talk about. we’ll get more info either when the build is released, or data gives him more info.

16. Mooseral - # October 16th, 2009 at 5:06 pm

I guess that people can hardly complain about a lack of any updates when they complained previously about updates about things that were not specifically CC-engine related.

Then again, I’d personally prefer that Andy draw a picture of a goat and put it up here rather than not post things at all.

17. Ch33n - # October 17th, 2009 at 1:12 am

Goat crab, please.

18. Airburst - # October 17th, 2009 at 8:59 pm

@Mooseral: I agree, any post would be better than to post. Even a badly drawn picture made in paint, or a photo of his dog. I don’t care.

19. ZNESS - # October 18th, 2009 at 12:11 am

Lol, this new guy was short lived.

20. Ch33n - # October 18th, 2009 at 4:22 am

I think he ditched to Vegas with the monies.

21. Alexander - # October 18th, 2009 at 11:54 am

It’s been ten days man get up on it.
These builds come sparse enough that these logs are what keep some of us interested.

22. Echo - # October 18th, 2009 at 1:18 pm

Yay. Lets start with daily updates. Then go to weekly. Then just stop. Way to fail with the devlog again…

23. Mooseral - # October 18th, 2009 at 4:32 pm

These logs come sparse enough that these builds are what keep some of us interested.

Wait, that’s not it.

(well eventually, hopefully)
(or something like that)

24. ZevN47 - # October 18th, 2009 at 4:45 pm

The day after the next sun sets will bring with it the fabled monday mailbag. For if it does not the streets will run red with the falseupdaters.

(could not type that without laughing my arse off)

25. pieman - # October 18th, 2009 at 4:55 pm

I think we should be complaining about the game more than the devlog. I feel like it’s had enough time. It better be worth the wait.

The devlog is just having a slow moment. many dev logs go through this. The game on the other hand seems to be slow, and at times has only little updates (This one will probably be big).

26. Geti - # October 18th, 2009 at 5:34 pm

wow, way to pile on the ingratitude guys.

27. Duh102 - # October 18th, 2009 at 6:15 pm

Honestly I don’t feel the need for a new build any more than 6 months or a year between. If we did, we’d never get any mods done before they were rendered obsolete. And really, if you think about it, mods are what keep Cortex alive.

28. Mooseral - # October 18th, 2009 at 7:05 pm

Personally, I’m over-blowing it because I think that many of these responses are generally silly. I genuinely do hope that Andy comes out of Vegas with sacks of money, and Data defeats the evil oppressor that is his (probable) indie hangover.

Until then, goats. And doing silly things involving fiddling with grammar and ludicrous turns of phrase, potentially involving inordinate numbers of syllables.

@Duh102; It’s probably true, although more frequent updates of the vanilla content might not hurt (as it is usually released needing help of one kind or another, and balance changes aren’t worth engine updates).

Perhaps since the vanilla content is generally in fairly standard mod-format .rte files, there could be content patch versions or something (like Build XX.YY [where X is engine revision and Y is content revision]). But then again, Data is probably fine with it the way it is, so mreh, it’s all good.

29. Tomaster - # October 18th, 2009 at 7:55 pm

Did Pieman’s comment seem somewhat stupid to anyone?

30. Mooseral - # October 18th, 2009 at 8:40 pm

Actually, I just noticed that. Yes actually, it does seem rather stupid, I must say.

It’s not like we don’t have a good game already.

And if “this one will probably be big”, why complain now?

31. Ch33n - # October 19th, 2009 at 7:54 am

Soup, my fellow townsmen.
Soup in my pants!

32. Metalray - # October 19th, 2009 at 9:56 am

Lol it didn’t take long before the daily newsletter stop populating my mail box πŸ™‚

When is the next version of CC ??
It’s getting really long for a supported price πŸ™

33. Duh102 - # October 19th, 2009 at 10:17 am

Sometime. Next version, month or two. Probably (December 21st) 2012 for the big switchover from reduced to regular price.

34. ZevN47 - # October 19th, 2009 at 11:21 am

… Waaait… December 21, 2012 is when the apocalypses happens…

OH! the next build is a sign of the apocalypse yes i get it now

OH IDEA!: Apocalypse Faction for Mod Contest hrm… πŸ˜• no my first idea is good enough

35. Duh102 - # October 19th, 2009 at 11:27 am

Nah, next build is close, like I said a month or two. When the game goes from production to release though is probably Dec. 21 2012.

36. The Man - # October 19th, 2009 at 1:00 pm

Now Andy owes us two monday mailbags.

37. CrazyMLC - # October 19th, 2009 at 1:08 pm

We better have a long Devlog post ahead of us.

38. Madmax - # October 19th, 2009 at 3:01 pm

So much for the frequent developer updates.

39. Yay - # October 19th, 2009 at 3:03 pm

I don’t like Andy anymore…

*cut* *cut* *cut*

ccrrraaaavvvlliing iiinn myyyy skiiiinn… theesee woouu.. nnn… heaeeaall… bees.. *faints*

40. CrazyMLC - # October 19th, 2009 at 4:42 pm

Hey, peeps, Data is too busy to supply Andy with constant info, that’s the problem.
Except that’s a good thing, that Data is busy, right?

41. Duh102 - # October 19th, 2009 at 4:49 pm

It depends on what he’s busy with. It could be his guns, it could be his drink, it could be his wife… List goes on before you get to Cortex.
That reminds me. If Data has a child, he should name it Dafred. Not really, though that would be funny.

42. CrazyMLC - # October 19th, 2009 at 7:08 pm

Naughty boy, ho, ho ho.

43. Duh102 - # October 19th, 2009 at 7:11 pm

Hm? Whatever are you talking about? His rifle could be jamming incessantly, his lemonade could have had too little sugar in it, and his wife could be having him cart around boxes of junk from the attic.

44. CrazyMLC - # October 19th, 2009 at 9:26 pm

Carting around boxes of junk makes plenty of babies, yes.
I’m sure Dafred jr. is already on his way, ho, ho, ho.

45. Geti - # October 19th, 2009 at 10:14 pm

There hasnt been a Dafred Sr. yet has there? O_o
But yeah, he gets both props and raised eyebrows if he names his first male child dafred. Mostly raised eyebrows though.
Andy, stop lagging πŸ™‚

46. pieman - # October 20th, 2009 at 3:07 pm

Some of you guys want to say my post is stupid, when tons of people are complaining about a pause in the devlog. You guys make me laugh! I’m not insulting anyone, I’m just pointing out how it makes no sense.

I just said I thought the game wasn’t progressing up to speed!
