Download Test Build 16!As Linus Torvalds used to say:

“Release early. Release often. And listen to your customers.”

Yes, B15 may have been a little rushed out the door. But we listened to the issues, and here is the fix to most many of them (plus more):

  • No more crashes due to corrupt collision map Nope, still have these.. were introduced with the new optimizations.. sorry. Will work on them.
  • No more crashes due to out of bounds of the scene (digging off the bottom etc)
  • No more crashes due to unknown materials… defaults gracefully to a safe material instead
  • Far more optimized version which runs much faster. We profiled the code and nailed a few hotspots which were slowing down things, especially on larger maps. This is what took a bit longer to do than the other fixes.
  • Mouse jerkyness completely fixed.. silly bug
  • Mouse interface improved.. no more tedious double clicking!
  • Many more small fixes and improvements

Enjoy!

No more crashes due to out of bounds of the scene (digging off the bottom etc) is definitely my favorite. This is awesome.

I had it crash when I tried to go fullscreen from the options menu.

    Awesome. Really nice work.

Also, is it possible to add a “rotate” function in the base building thing?

wow that’s fast i came to dowload build 15 cause now im home but 16 is already out YAY!!!

Played a couple of matches now, with no crashes. whee~
I suspect it being something wrong with the dropships. cause the matches where I do crash the game is when I get abit trigger happy with the flak cannon, shooting down dropships.

DATA: I’ve played with 15 compared to 16. 16 has almost no crashes! I’ve noticed that the only time my game crashes is when a flak cannon shoots a drop ship. I think it might have something to do with the projectile going through the ship before it explodes. hope that helps 🙂

unable to set any graphic mode
    unsupported color depth

Any ideas what might be causing that?

What I’ve noticed is that when you shoot any TDexplosive at a ship the ship simply loads it into itself. That may be whats causing the dropship crashes because the flak cannon round isn’t buyable i think.

Heres just something odd I seen happen about 2 or 3 times.
The engine explodie just kinda freeze in air and stays there.

Hello I downloaded this build, and unlike last two it works like charm. However after i exit game and start it again, it runs but all the colors are wrong. I see tons of bright yellows and cyans where there should be blacks and browns. WTF? Besides that, this build is eggselent.

Go into the Task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and head to the processes tab, close all the cortex command.exes.

Or you could restart your computer.

Thank you so damn much, Data.

very nice! works much better than the last one. Data, I was thinking, if it isn’t too much trouble, do you think you could add a Kill Counter into the next build? I know it’s not a major thing, but I think it could be a quick, easy way to make battles against the Computer more fun. see how long you can last, and all that.

“Heres just something odd I seen happen about 2 or 3 times.

That’s happened since many builds before this one.

Basically, the engine gibs explode, but, hit some amount of resistance that goes over their “RestThreshold”, so, they freeze in midair, rather than go away like they should.

Even Air is a material, and as such has a tiny amount of resistance to particles.

hmmm, seemed to crash with me after about 15 mins of playing when a was flying a ship and i crashed into another ship, then mine started barrel rolling. That’s when it crashed.

  18. MONKY - # August 4th, 2007 at 3:37 am

I agree with superdigg, a kill counter would be very nice

  19. JeCa - # August 4th, 2007 at 3:48 am

Nice idea Superdigg, although most of the comps casualties are due to accidents. 😛 . About the crashes, I have to agree with Koniferus. The first three matches crashed in the first five minutes, and all happened when I had at least one flak cannon on a high point. Also, if you play Prom Grounds, the computer no longer avoids to deploy at your base. Works well on custom-made levels though. 🙂

    WOW…cool…Quick too!

Alright, I’ve had time to play the game some more, and I have to congratulate you (Data) to the awesome game you’ve built. The editor works great, and the only problem I have with it is that you can brake robots by moving them fast before placing them or dropping equipment on them. Really hope weapons placed upon an actor will stick in the actors inventory in later versions. The game doesn’t crash nearly as often as before when I don’t use cannons, but I’ve had two crashes some 30 mins into the game, both occurring when something heavy (rocket in one case) was propelled into a dropship. Except that, the game performs excellent with greatly decreased lagg compared to the old builds.

Keep up the good work! 😀

Don’t quote Linus without a Linux version!!
