Ship GibsI know some of you are really getting anxious about a new build; here’s the situation:

Up till now the test builds have been a great way for us to evaluate what works and what doesn’t, and with the great community feedback and support we have an idea of what you like too.

Even though the tests have been fun to play in their own right, they were little more than half-finished game engines with some temporary data thrown in to try the different systems out. They did not really represent the larger gameplay design we have planned for the final product. Sure, the gun battles and basic elements are there, but the base building phase and more emphasis on strategy and tactics over twitchy action wasn’t.

Now that we have a framework and and idea of what’s fun, it’s time to build the real game. The project is at a point where we’re taking apart and rebuilding a lot of areas, and replacing most of the old temporary test data with fresh new art assets. It’s just not conducive to putting out tests as frequently as some of you have become used to.

Another reason for not putting out new builds while we’re changing things so drastically is that each one would break all the mods that are already out there.

So, while I will try to keep this devlog a little more frequently updated on things we’re working on, don’t expect test builds nearly as often as before. There may only be one or two left before we put out a version that really starts to look like the final product.

If you can’t handle the waiting, then why not submit your email address above, and give it a break. You’ll get an email every time anything new is announced.

    No, no, no!
    Boxors is the plural of box, better known as a computer. The suffix -orz comes from 1337. I’m not so sure about “dropzorz”, by the way.

    …………. I havn’t looked at forum in a while, and the first thing I see is “Gockzorz will roflzorz”. Also “your boxorz are too seeorz”
    WTF has this world gone too????? We used to fine people, but now…….. We are talking in strange plural languages!?!?!?!?!? I ask you? Shall we repent to the English teacher or shall we stew in Summer School!! (The random saying I made up just now was, “Shall we repent to God? Or shall we stew in hell?” before I buchered into what you see today. lol)
    And btw, I HATE it when developers charge for the final product. This should be a learning expearence to help them prepair for a job! Not a way to make money!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ahhhh well, my random rant is over.

    @FPR: If Data wants to charge for future versions of CC, he will. If they’re enough of an improvement over the last test build, we’ll buy them. It’s called capitalism, and if you object there IS in fact the CPUSA.
    @Afroded: Seeorz? Please let that be a typo.
    @Slappy: Fair enough. But “dropzorz” is a noun, “-orz” doesn’t apply. (cf http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet)

    Data was a bit snide in his last post wasn’t he. Perhaps he annoyed with us for constantly whining and speculating about his personal life. maybe thats why he is withdrawing test builds. Just a thought.

    EDIT: Still, it’s not like he has the build finished and just doesn’t want to give it to us. He is working hard and enjoying a life that he does have. He doesn’t get paid to work on this. He would if he made a donation option.

    @RZ: I knew what he meant, I was making a joke.
    @Afroded: No, “seeorz” is [i]wrong[/i]; “see”, not being a noun(except as in the Holy See), is incompatible with “-or/ors/orz” “Visible” would be “Vizorz”; much better sounding imo.
    @TD: I dunno, he just seemed kinda short on time/energy. If he were snide, he’d surely be able to put out much more biting sarcasm. Unless he’s one of those not-so-good-with-words geniuses.
