Posted by Data in Cortex Command - September 12th, 2012

At our first PAX Prime the other week, we were proud to present Cortex Command to the gaming public, as part of the awesome Indie Megabooth! So many cool and enthusiastic people came through and playtested the crap out of it! I have since been busy prioritizing and fixing the glaring issues before our launch of 1.0.. VERY SOON. Like, for realsies.

  8. SanguineBrah - # September 13th, 2012 at 7:01 pm

Is the speed issue on faster machines going to be fixed in the new version? At the moment this is making the game unplayable for me.

  9. Data - # September 13th, 2012 at 10:48 pm

Can you describe exactly what you mean by ‘speed issue’?? thanks

  10. Asklar - # September 13th, 2012 at 9:50 pm

  11. Bombzero - # September 13th, 2012 at 11:09 pm

  15. Cybernetic - # September 14th, 2012 at 10:22 am

    It is here…. Almost….

  16. Vytauti - # September 14th, 2012 at 2:06 pm

    Very exited!
Will the OS X 10.8.x have fullscreen support?
‘Very soon’ is more like this week, this, month, or this year?

  17. war_man333 - # September 14th, 2012 at 5:51 pm

    @VYTAUTI
    this millenium

  18. Vytauti - # September 14th, 2012 at 6:13 pm

    >1.0
    >You just got bored with the project so you give up on it
    >You call it final release
    >SUUURE.

  20. SanguineBrah - # September 15th, 2012 at 5:02 pm

Sorry, I thought this might have been a known problem in the latest build. I just checked through the forums and the only related thread I could to my problem is http://forums.datarealms.com/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=31219

Basically the game is running way faster than normal so that it is impossible to keep up with what the AI is doing.

To give you some context, this is what I am running on:
    Windows 7 64bit
    Intel Core i7-2600K
Two GeForce GTX 570s running in SLI (I am guessing this is the problem)

Hope this helps! Let me know if you need any more details or want me to test something for you.

  21. Khazar - # September 15th, 2012 at 8:42 pm

    @SANGUINEBRAH @DATA:
    Windows 7 64bit
    Intel Core i7-3960X
Two GeForce GTX 580 running in SLI
and it runs just fine without speed issues.

  22. SanguineBrah - # September 16th, 2012 at 12:08 am

One thing that may be adding to the problem is that I am only running at 1024×768 due to having a really crappy monitor.

  23. Khazar - # September 16th, 2012 at 10:06 am

Even the tiniest resolution (tested with fullscreen and windowed) doesn’t speed it up for me.

Could you make a video presenting the problem and screens etc. of your settings?

  24. SanguineBrah - # September 16th, 2012 at 11:35 am

Having watched data’s campaign video on youtube I’m pretty convinced that I just suck at the game but what the hell; I’ll embarrass myself anyway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Td3cbbFm8k

I cope pretty well in this video but I normally wind up losing in the tutorial (!). I still think it may be going a bit faster than usual but you be the judge. My ini settings are all the defaults from a fresh install.

  25. Khazar - # September 16th, 2012 at 1:21 pm

That’s the exact same speed I have. It’s just smooth because our PCs can handle it at a good framerate. So don’t ya worry. ^^

  26. SanguineBrah - # September 16th, 2012 at 1:58 pm

Doh! Back to boot camp for me… :'(

  27. STEAM GREENLIGHT - # September 16th, 2012 at 10:38 pm

have you thought about putting this game on steam greenlight? there are a lot of games out there right now! you shuold check it out, a lot of alpha and beta games getting funded.

  28. spillblood - # September 17th, 2012 at 6:03 pm

GREAT! I follow the game since 2008, it’s nice to see it being finished finally.

  29. James - # September 18th, 2012 at 1:01 pm

My friend and I really enjoyed your booth at PAX. We were both surprised and excited to see that Data Realms had a booth. We’re both looking forward to playing the new multiplayer with the rest of our friends when the new version is released. Thanks, and keep up the good work!

  30. Data - # September 18th, 2012 at 1:23 pm

Thanks guys for taking the time to stop by the booth! It was a pleasure seeing people actually playing this thing 🙂

  31. Vytauti - # September 18th, 2012 at 5:42 pm

I bet CC will be included in HIB v.6, as an “who beats the average”.

  32. alexhairyman - # September 18th, 2012 at 9:45 pm

VYTAUTI It’s been in another one, that’s where I got my “newest” copy of the game…. CAN’T WAIT FOR LINUX UPDATE!! WOOHOO!!

  33. CrazedFanatic - # September 19th, 2012 at 7:20 am

CC was in an older bundle. HIB 3.

So, what do you think “Soon” means, DATA? Does soon mean “This month”, or “Over my dead body, you worthless fools!”?

  34. glata10 - # September 19th, 2012 at 12:23 pm

Yeah put this on Steam Greenlight. Also it could be nice if you could fix a thing. When i play with my friend(me on mouse + keyboard and he on keyboard)whenever i have my buy screen up or the list at building phase he can move on my list so whenever i try to buy something its super annoying to do so.

  35. Lizardheim - # September 20th, 2012 at 3:35 pm

Dan already arranged with valve to put this on steam some time around the last IGF, so there’s no need to put it on greenlight.

  36. Danny - # September 23rd, 2012 at 1:57 pm

I wish there were other payment transactions available, I would buy this game if it was possible to buy it via IDeal, at the moment it is impossible for me to get it :/
