I personally believe that frequent, not-so-relevant blog posts are better than sporadic, on-topic posts. Dan agrees and has given me the go-ahead to post the general goings-on around the DataRealms HQ! In the coming weeks I’ll post some tidbits from here and there. The posts will probably get a bit more personable and not “all business” as they’ve been in the past.

But for today:

xmas

Over in the Forums we’ve started up the Official Christmas Mod Contest. It’s fairly free-form – from weapons to sprites to total conversions, anything goes! Check it out; it will run until mid-December so we have time to take our Christmas breaks.

Meanwhile, Dan is dreaming about one day being able to do one-handed pushups.

Over six months since the last build. No info of substance on a hypothetical next build. I think it’s safe to declare Cortex Command a dead project.

The above poster is either A) trying to incite people and generally get flamed or B) is an idiot.

Although nothing ever came of it, it shows they are/were making progress.

Footkerchief, I think I might have seen you on the DF forums. Although CC certainly doesn’t have nearly as many updates as DF, (I think) it’s actually been longer since the last DF release than since the last CC release. Data has never been a good updater either, in any case.

On the other hand, there has been little assurance of any real progress on the game. Other things like Andy apparently taking a long time to be told of changes to the game… and then posting filler, tend to raise certain doubts.

Then again, despite the fact that Data has taken long breaks from CC in the past, he hasn’t taken those breaks after taking peoples’ money. I think that one main cause for optimism is that he’s actually been being paid by the community during this last period of non-updates, and therefore hopefully it has been a period of development.

@Tomaster yes, I am trying to incite people, specifically trying to incite Data to post something more specific than “We’re working on the campaign,” although I know it’s not going to happen since he’s never even bothered to maintain a changelog.
