Posted by Data in Cortex Command - February 10th, 2009

2009 started out a bit rocky for progress on Cortex Command. Distractions large and small got in the way of serious development for all of January, but I am happy to report that we’re now back on track and chugging along just fine. We are working through a backlog of important features and fixes required by the content team and mod community – and then it’s on to development of the meta game in earnest.

The meta game is what will be going on in the planetary view, tying all the surface missions and activities together. It will be turn based, where the player gets to build his mining bases to generate income, which in turn can be spent on expanding and exploring new sites and discovering the dangerous secrets of the planet.

Also, we are thinking about making some Cortex t-shirts and other neat stuff like fridge magnets and stickers. Please let us know if you would be interested in buying such things with sweet prints like you see to the left. If there’s a lot of interest, we’ll get it going sooner!

I’d love to buy a shirt with the turkey from the Thanksgiving blog post!

  2. Ghost Bear - # February 10th, 2009 at 5:29 am

Shirts? Nice! I would like to purchase something brain or pixel-related.

  3. Shook - # February 10th, 2009 at 5:42 am

    Sounds awesome, Data! :)
Also, me buying a shirt with the above print is not unrealistic. In fact, it’s very realistic. I’m willing to bet that i would get a lot of “wuzzat?” looks, but shortly after they’d probably be like, “Awesome!”.

    I lol’d at the blast-off crabs.

  4. SimonKA - # February 10th, 2009 at 5:45 am

I’m really happy to hear progress is resuming – I’ve never once looked back on purchasing a key for this.
As for the merchandise, I’d be happy with a CC shirt :D

  5. udm - # February 10th, 2009 at 6:14 am

Merchandise will be nice. I’d buy a CC t-shirt if it’s nicely designed

So, will the metagame be like Rise of Nations, or rather, sort of like Risk?

  6. Tomaster - # February 10th, 2009 at 6:31 am

Thanks for the update :D Good to know CC is back on track. As for the t-shirt idea, I think alot of people would like one.

  7. Bob - # February 10th, 2009 at 7:00 am

Any shirt with prom’s art is nice.
    Thanks for the update, Data

  8. Steve - # February 10th, 2009 at 7:45 am

    I can’t wait! woooooooooo!

  9. Tobeh - # February 10th, 2009 at 7:47 am

    Sounds nice :O

  10. Kallemort - # February 10th, 2009 at 7:58 am

    oh god devlog update.

Also oh yeah I’d buy a shirt.

You can destroy my brain anytime baby.

  11. Dauss - # February 10th, 2009 at 8:00 am

    I’d buy shirts.

And please Data, hurry up? I remember about 3-4 months ago you said the next build would be in a week. :|

    But yeah, make shirts.

  12. deathbal101 - # February 10th, 2009 at 8:30 am

well since i got banned from the forums for one single word post, ive been pissed at you guys, but this makes it better. :D

  13. Metroid48 - # February 10th, 2009 at 8:45 am

T-shirts sound great! The blast off art on the left is particularly suited to a shirt.

The meta-game sounds interesting – hopefully we can get some more details soon.

  14. Minorkos - # February 10th, 2009 at 9:26 am

The meta game sounds great. You guys should give the different factions a different way to think. That is, if you decide to go that far with the AI.

  15. bobbyb - # February 10th, 2009 at 10:02 am

I’d buy a shirt as long as their not to pricy. You could make a bundle includes like a shirt, magnet, etc. and maybe give magnets or some to those who bought the support version of the game.

  16. Dodomaster - # February 10th, 2009 at 10:16 am

I’d love some shirts or other swag, but I would love a new build more:D

  17. Chamyky - # February 10th, 2009 at 10:29 am

I would personally buy magnets, and probably shirts too. And I think a big part of the community is like me: you’ve managed to create a very solid and faithful fanbase (you’ve been helped by the awesomeness of your game though). We’re all waiting for each next release, and looking at ourselves with CC shirts will help us for sure!

    :–)

  18. domtech - # February 10th, 2009 at 10:35 am

    t-shirts are a great idea.
I’ve seen tons of CC concept art that would look great on t-shirts.

some posters and computer walpapers would be cool too.

I’ve been checking this site every day and I’m glad to have an update.

  19. teh somebody - # February 10th, 2009 at 10:39 am

Nice to know what are you working on.
Idon’t know about the T-shirts and other stuff.. O’m just waiting for the game.

  20. timo - # February 10th, 2009 at 10:43 am

i would *so* buy a tshirt with that image on it. (flying crabs! awesome!)

  21. T.n - # February 10th, 2009 at 11:32 am

I would def purchase Cortex Command Merchandise!

  22. Neko - # February 10th, 2009 at 11:40 am

    I like figurines >.>

  23. Jello - # February 10th, 2009 at 11:57 am

I say tshirts, magnhets sticker etc are a realy good idea!! but you know what would be cool? action figures! AND PSP cortex command ( i keep saying it but i know this would be the best game ever on psp) because its already one of the best games ever on pc (personnal advice)

  24. Bremze - # February 10th, 2009 at 12:03 pm

Psp lacks the power, Openpandora at 400×240 might work.

  25. ARme - # February 10th, 2009 at 12:37 pm

Well I’m like Neko : figurines would be a nice idea.
Stickers, magnets and CC T-shirts are useless to me.
I would prefer giving you a bit more $ (like I already did by buying new License) and having a new build.
    Common’ guys !

  26. MstrNetHead - # February 10th, 2009 at 12:55 pm

Well I for one am in need of a bumper sticker with a pithy slogan.

  27. L7D - # February 10th, 2009 at 1:29 pm

I would totally wear a t-shirt if it wasn’t white. Perhaps violence depicted on the shirt as well :D

I am glad we are up an running yay, i need a new build.

  28. Ethan M. - # February 10th, 2009 at 2:08 pm

I Would Totally But Some Cortex T-Shirts!
Anything To Keep This Game Going!

  29. Washcloth - # February 10th, 2009 at 2:26 pm

Thank the gods you guys updated! so.. any eta on next build? (sorry, but some one was bound to ask)..and also, i would totally buy a shirt depicting a crab nuke!

  30. SunnyKatt - # February 10th, 2009 at 2:38 pm

Sounds awesome. I would most likely end up buying a shirt, as long as they are below 20$, preferably below 15. Online shirts are always too expensive.

Still waiting for a linux build. ;)

  31. Ctrl - # February 10th, 2009 at 2:39 pm

A t-shirt or a hat would be awesome.

But so help me if you somehow get a plushie.

  32. Zinc - # February 10th, 2009 at 2:54 pm

Please make a Crab-Bomb related shirt. The gods command it! Also, CTRL said plushies… Crab Plushie would be EPIC as well.

And also… turn based? Sounds interesting, I guess.

  33. Zinc - # February 10th, 2009 at 2:55 pm

Oh, and CC + DR Mouse Pads, like in the intro and such. Like the intro planet saying “CORTEX COMMAND” on it would make a great mouse pad.

  34. BakedNoodle - # February 10th, 2009 at 3:00 pm

T-Shirts? Yes, please. Fridge Magnets? meh Stickers? Yes. I think you should do a CC Audio CD because the intro music freaking rocks, make some more of that. and SUNNYKATT? Agreed I’m still waiting for a Linux build, if you can do OSX, Linux cannot be far behind.

  35. Duh102 - # February 10th, 2009 at 3:15 pm

I would buy a t-shirt. I would buy several t-shirts. I think it’s pretty much required that there be at least one with this image on it:
    http://www.datarealms.com/images/footer.jpg

  36. FRT - # February 10th, 2009 at 3:38 pm

Crab fridge magnet? Yes, two please! :D

  37. Krumbs - # February 10th, 2009 at 4:21 pm

Oh god that person I was having a pointless argument was right, the white bots do have one eye!

Also yes I would buy a t-shirt. I believe there is a site my dad used to make his t-shirts where it costs nothing and the site just takes a small profit of the amount payed. Also that picture is amazing, specially the dreadnaught.

  38. Deathbal101 - # February 10th, 2009 at 4:36 pm

duh… i dont think having ”free crabs” on your shirt would end well.

  39. BobaFett - # February 10th, 2009 at 5:01 pm

Looks great! I love that picture, especially the coalition in front.
Will multiplayer ever become an option? I don’t have anyone to splitscreen with.

  40. Striker121 - # February 10th, 2009 at 5:05 pm

Hey DATA! Glad to see you guys are working on it. About the shirt though, you REALLY should make a mention to modding the game. Like “I made a giant orbital space laser, what about you?”.

  41. Jello - # February 10th, 2009 at 5:14 pm

http://www.zazzle.com/create you can go there create all you want! data you should use that exept if you have beter prices somewhere else!

  42. domtech - # February 10th, 2009 at 5:48 pm

I would totaly buy 6 CC t-shirts, 2 CC mousepads, 4 CC posters, and 2 giant crab plushies.

  43. Maddog321 - # February 10th, 2009 at 5:58 pm

This information is completely awesome. Say, will this turn-based metagame be implemented in build 23? Just want to know.

Also, a t-shirt would be completely awesome.

  44. Erich - # February 10th, 2009 at 5:58 pm

    I would totally buy a t-shirt!!

  45. domtech - # February 10th, 2009 at 6:17 pm

An ipod touch/iphone version would be cool too.
Like where you tilt the device to either side to walk.
You could use your left thumb for jump, crouch, fire and menu buttons and your right finger for aiming.

It would have to be simpler than the pc version since an ipod touch is only 400 megahertz.

  46. zalo - # February 10th, 2009 at 6:21 pm

Data, your first priority is to hire someone who can look at your work regularly and keep us updated! Second priority is engine, third is the actual game content. Those were also ranked from hardest to easiest so get crackin!

Eh, I really don’t think merchandise would sell well…
At least until you are noticed by everybody on the Internet.

  47. Roy-g-biv - # February 10th, 2009 at 6:23 pm

Don’t start selling merchandise until CC becomes a success.

  48. Foa - # February 10th, 2009 at 6:29 pm

    :D

Can’t wait for the next build!

  49. domtech - # February 10th, 2009 at 6:33 pm

The idea behind the merchandise is that Data makes more money and can hire more people which will help CC be successful.

  50. Lord Tim - # February 10th, 2009 at 7:47 pm

    P.S. Lua docs

  51. Chineseboy17 - # February 10th, 2009 at 7:51 pm

Great news. If anything, I’d want a Coalition plush doll or a Brain, but a T-shirt would be nice :]

  52. TFSR - # February 10th, 2009 at 8:03 pm

    Joe- actually, you did.
    Sorry, dumbshit.
Data- Dark gray hat, black brim, shiny-thread DR logo.
    Yes yes yes yes yes.
Or black hat, gray brim, dummy symbol front and center.

  53. Foogooman - # February 10th, 2009 at 8:51 pm

I would certainly be interested in buying Cortex Command merchandise.

  54. whitty - # February 10th, 2009 at 9:18 pm

i would trade one of my brothers for CC merchandise

  55. mcguinty - # February 10th, 2009 at 9:32 pm

I have been wanting another good sticker for my laptop and a cortex command one would be perfect. One with Robopope would be great.

  56. Allen - # February 10th, 2009 at 9:57 pm

I’d be down for a shirt. Also, i’m glad the wheels are turning again.

You mentioned a while back about a feature on the site where those of us with keys would vote on/suggest new features to be developed. Any further plans or reassurances there?

  57. deathbal101 - # February 10th, 2009 at 10:56 pm

    @ allen

search the forums, theres a link somewhere…

  58. Durza - # February 11th, 2009 at 12:31 am

I’d buy a shirt, if it were good.

  59. Exalion - # February 11th, 2009 at 1:36 am

Glad to hear you guys are working on it again. I’m hoping your main priority is fixing the armada of bugs you’ve given us in build 22.

Also, love the artwork, I’d buy a shirt with that on it. Eventually… (I’m not so good with the whole ‘buying things online’. Negotiating with Dad to use his paypal is such hard work.)

  60. Foa - # February 11th, 2009 at 1:37 am

    Motivational poster Idea;

    Cortex Command
In actuality, it is like comparing Home-Brewed Gold, to Franchise-Hyped Flatulence ( coughHalo3cough ) .

  61. Foa - # February 11th, 2009 at 1:38 am

I’m not kidding, it is apparent.

    Physics > Physics ( Halo3 )
    Story… Play… etc … … … etc ……………..

  62. Vash - # February 11th, 2009 at 1:59 am

I LOVe The NEW ART PIECE!

I would totally buy a shirt and some magnets.

  63. Timppa - # February 11th, 2009 at 7:02 am

I would love to wear a Cortex Command T-shirt!!!

  64. deathbal101 - # February 11th, 2009 at 8:17 am

    gimmie a build

  65. Gronut - # February 11th, 2009 at 9:40 am

I’d love t-shirts that highlight the sweet sweet physics or the delicious gore in a humorous way, though I admit that depicting an out of control drop ship mushing people in a satisfying way seems like a daunting task when you can’t animate the whole thing.

  66. trolleydude - # February 11th, 2009 at 12:10 pm

It’s always so disenheartening (is that a word?) when I look at the Devlog and it’s an apology for not achieving anything since the last one.

Keep up the good work, though.

  67. hame - # February 11th, 2009 at 12:38 pm

woow the cortex command is cool

  68. hame - # February 11th, 2009 at 12:42 pm

hahahaha i love speic and the cool aliens and waypens and the cool efekts!!!!!!
    hahahhehehehe

  69. Thustrust - # February 11th, 2009 at 1:38 pm

Great news Data! Thanks for the info and continued development on such an awesome game!

I’ve been having some pretty disconcerting crashes in the latest build on my computer. They are completely locking it up to the point that I have to press the power button and restart. I’m running on vista x64 with an Nvidia 8800 and an intel quad core cpu, if that matters.

Just thought maybe you could look into it now that you are working on bug fixing a little…

  70. PlasmaNova - # February 11th, 2009 at 1:56 pm

    T-Shirt? Hell yeah.
I would buy some Cortex Command shoes too!
    Errrrmmm… CC hats, anyone?
    How about posters? (Maybe not)
Or maybe a couple 3-D models?

I dunno I’m just throwing ideas out there. No need to worry about merchandising yet, right?

  71. Raintail99 - # February 11th, 2009 at 3:07 pm

I support the fan ware!! I would definatly wear it.

Also, when are the whitebots being created?

  72. neoseeker - # February 11th, 2009 at 8:36 pm

    this is sort of disappointing

you say you’re gonna release a build then nothing happens for a month.

  73. Geti - # February 11th, 2009 at 9:24 pm

the screaming blast of crabs are made of win. it would be nicer if this said something more reassuring than “we’re getting to it” but at least there isnt an eerie silence in the dev-log now. i might buy a shirt (especially if it has such a bitching image on it) but to be frank im more interested in the game. great to hear about the meta-game though, sounds fun, especially if you get it working perfectly.

  74. Kilgannon - # February 11th, 2009 at 10:22 pm

Good news… I must say, a dreadnaught plushie or figurine would be so fucking sweet…

  75. Requisite - # February 11th, 2009 at 11:13 pm

I would totally buy that shirt.

  76. Tyler - # February 12th, 2009 at 12:06 am

Please let me buy a poster, I love CC

  77. Atad - # February 12th, 2009 at 12:38 am

fuck t-shirts, give us more game. Spelunky is kicking CC’s ass.

  78. Nukes-for-all - # February 12th, 2009 at 3:22 am

    OMG!! Cortex Command merch =D
i want a shirt with that new splash picture

  79. carpetninja - # February 12th, 2009 at 3:53 am

make a t-shirt ith a gibbing related joke on it

  80. Nordo - # February 12th, 2009 at 4:06 pm

I look forward to the game’s completion. It seems great so far. I will probably buy it.

  81. Azukki - # February 12th, 2009 at 5:29 pm

I would quite possibly buy one.
    And I don’t buy logo’d T shirts. I simply don’t. But I would.

  82. Pyris - # February 12th, 2009 at 6:11 pm

You should make some ’special edition’ merch. Make them only long enough so that us who have followed you can get them, before the game becomes famous. Cause it will.

  83. Jack The Llama Commando - # February 12th, 2009 at 8:17 pm

I can’t possibly be the only one who thinks all the new weapon content doesn’t tie in with the vanilla very well.
I appreciate the gesture to include more weapon choices but it is fairly superfluous and some of it needs a lot of fixing up.

  84. Tendrop - # February 12th, 2009 at 8:23 pm

Ho-lee sheet that picture evokes feelings of epic.

  85. Azukki - # February 12th, 2009 at 8:48 pm

True, but the content devs are making fixes, I’m sure.
They HAVE to be, as of b22 there was stuff that looked poor for being mods, much less official content.

Also numgun showed that he redid the flamer for example.

  86. dabingo - # February 13th, 2009 at 5:52 am

Shoot. I’d buy an assault turkey t-shirt.

  87. dabingo - # February 13th, 2009 at 5:55 am

P.S. Damn. We’re gettin’ to be pretty damn harsh on the logs. Give data some slack. They’re the ones givin’ you the game, so let’s not piss them off, right?

  88. Guillaume - # February 13th, 2009 at 11:19 am

    I want an update.

    Now that i paid :p

  89. trolleydude - # February 13th, 2009 at 2:09 pm

I’d love some spiffy new smoke cloud effects like the one in that artwork – like, billowing out across the battlefield, nudging any actors caught in it before dispersing.

  90. JOOLA - # February 13th, 2009 at 2:18 pm

    I WANT A SHIRT, I WANT A SHIRT, I WANT A SHIRT, I WANT A SHIRT, I WANT A SHIRT, I WANT A SHIRT, I WANT A SHIRT, I WANT A SHIRT, I WANT A SHIRT, I WANT A SHIRT, I WANT A SHIRT, I WANT A SHIRT, I WANT A SHIRT, I WANT A SHIRT, I WANT A SHIRT!!!

  91. J23 - # February 13th, 2009 at 3:29 pm

Shirts would be pretty cool, especially a few with the Data Realms logo or a close-up of a clone. Or maybe even Coalition propaganda…I mean truth, honest truth…yes..

The meta game is what is really going to tie CC together into the RTS it was supposed to be. It will make the latest Build look like a buggy alpha.

  92. Krumbs - # February 13th, 2009 at 3:54 pm

Also the next dev log post will be the 100th dev log post. Better make it something big Data, like the release of build 23 or something.

  93. Octyl - # February 13th, 2009 at 11:08 pm

    Cortex Command needs action figures.

  94. PsyHusky - # February 14th, 2009 at 3:29 am

A t-shirt with like a lone coalition grunt on it would be so good.

Also I wanna be able to buy CC in hardcopy

  95. CrazyMLC - # February 14th, 2009 at 4:05 am

    Love the picture, so colorful.
Wish I could use it as a background.

Can’t wait for the next release, Data!

    Just remember…
    “Octyl – # February 13th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
    Cortex Command needs action figures.”
    I vote yes.

  96. SunnyKatt - # February 14th, 2009 at 8:10 am

Krumbs, I totally agree with you. :)

  97. Tendrop - # February 14th, 2009 at 9:45 am

    NEED COA ACTION FIGURES NAO

  98. Sam - # February 14th, 2009 at 12:07 pm

Totally need Figurine. That would be AWESOME

  99. trolleydude - # February 14th, 2009 at 5:36 pm

    100GET
    I claim this for b23

  100. Woose1 - # February 14th, 2009 at 8:01 pm

  101. valgonzarp - # February 15th, 2009 at 10:48 am

    This game is awesome.

  102. Jason - # February 15th, 2009 at 11:12 am

Dude, i would so be into buying a t-shirt

  103. Dropshock - # February 15th, 2009 at 1:39 pm

    Yeah, That’d be cool!

  104. sheldon - # February 15th, 2009 at 2:48 pm

    wait turn based what :O

  105. Fred - # February 15th, 2009 at 4:41 pm

fridge magnets would be awesome, we could have little turn based fights.

  106. Ethan M. (TMDP-27) - # February 15th, 2009 at 5:25 pm

    cant wait for b23…
if tshirts will make it happen, then let there be thshirts

in the name of Cortex Command….
    LET THERE BE MERCHANDISING!!

  107. J23 - # February 15th, 2009 at 5:46 pm

Krumbs: I saw what you did there..

  108. Mooseral - # February 15th, 2009 at 7:19 pm

Is the support email thing still active? I’ve sent off a couple emails to attempt to reset my CC key over the past few weeks, but I have yet to get a response back for good or bad (and no, that reset page thing on the internet will not work, as it only works once, and my key has already broken in various ways more than once).

If the devs see this post, I believe you have my email, and a response of some description would be great.

  109. Seraph - # February 16th, 2009 at 5:11 am

A plush toy dummy turret would be awesome in my eyes.

  110. Mayhemic_Truth - # February 16th, 2009 at 9:05 am

Woo! Yes, Im sure gonna buy a t-shirt if u make’em and sell =) =) Good for supporting Datarealms too.

  111. vagyr - # February 16th, 2009 at 10:05 am

    HE IS ALIVE!!!

  112. ARme - # February 16th, 2009 at 3:20 pm

    So what’s the news ?
Anybody could grab the last IRC chat or something to inform us ? It’s a bit too long to my taste this time…
    thks

  113. ngajoe - # February 17th, 2009 at 10:57 am

  114. Wobo - # February 18th, 2009 at 5:30 am

    Nobody will buy anything.

  115. ColeScheffler - # February 19th, 2009 at 9:31 am

I would love a CC T-Shirt, and I can’t wait until you guys get more missions out!

  116. Onyx - # February 19th, 2009 at 9:47 pm

I demand a CC T-shirt so I can rise above all those element and west 49 dicks

  117. Blank - # February 21st, 2009 at 2:39 pm

    Shirts: Yes, awesomeness.
    Magnets: Sure, why not?
    Stickers: Yes.

  118. Will - # February 21st, 2009 at 8:29 pm

Just bought CC yesterday. Love it! :D

  119. neoseeker - # February 22nd, 2009 at 2:02 pm

a plushie dummy bot would be awesome

a plushie every official unit would be awesome

  120. PlasmaNova - # February 22nd, 2009 at 3:15 pm

Is there gonna be a story? Or will it just be random missions that get harder as you complete them? Or maybe both?

  121. Daman - # February 22nd, 2009 at 7:48 pm

Dear data, where the heck are our lua file libraries? If you’re going to take io out entirely, at least give us some alternative restricted functions for reading/writing to files inside the CC folder(Perhaps deny access to base.rte).

  122. Blarg - # February 23rd, 2009 at 2:08 am

If u made prints like this add more crabs like four or 5 or 6. I might be intrested in buying a shirt like that.

  123. bobbyb - # February 23rd, 2009 at 9:34 am

    Build 23?

  124. Octyl - # February 23rd, 2009 at 4:29 pm

    Oh man Cortex Command lego.

  125. Durza - # February 23rd, 2009 at 6:58 pm

    Do want.

  126. Mooseral - # February 24th, 2009 at 12:38 am

Der her her, apparently the licensing utilities have changed since I last looked at them, and are now actually rather useful and have mostly fixed my problem. Functionality is most definitely a plus.

Also, CC merch seems to be, as the comments so far have somewhat affirmed, a good idea. Not only might it net some extra income for Datarealms, but the fans get new shirts, and much additional publicity might also be had. And also there’s the whole “crab shirt ftw” thing to go along with it.

Yeah. Crab shirts. Actually, most of Prom’s art would probably translate well into merchandise form, even pixelly stuff based on in-game sprites.

  127. Kallemort - # February 24th, 2009 at 8:33 am

I can see the double meaning with “Free crabs”.

That shirt would sure get my popularity up.

  128. Warman - # February 24th, 2009 at 3:34 pm

    win ^

  129. Woose1 - # February 24th, 2009 at 6:04 pm

I’m not sure a a CC shirt would be allowed in my school.

I mean really, guys getting their limbs torn off, heads exploding like watermelons, smushed, charred, vaporized and crushed by various forms of dropship.

    Just sayin’.
    :D

  130. PyroKinesis1019 - # February 25th, 2009 at 4:03 pm

It would be really cool to have shirts with the intro artwork, the factions, or possibly a TradeStar. I would definitely buy a couple of shirts about THE BEST GAME EVER IN EXISTENCE WHICH IS JUST AS GOOD AS IJI, BUT CANNOT BE COMPARED (sorry, just stressing a point)

Merchandise would be awesome, and I could get even more people playing if I had an awesome shirt

  131. Allen - # February 25th, 2009 at 9:57 pm

maybe you should drop out of school

  132. Don885 - # February 26th, 2009 at 3:34 pm

Sweet i cant wait to play the new build but i dont like the turn based thing you were talking about i like it the way it is now. another thing when i was in school recently i made a Cortex Command T-shirt :D

  133. w33n - # March 1st, 2009 at 10:14 am

I need this game so badly.

Data, get ready to see the cash roll.

    A little bit.

  134. w33n - # March 1st, 2009 at 10:15 am

Sorry for double-post but http://www.cafepress.com is excellent if you want to sell T-shirts and the like.

  135. Dan - # March 1st, 2009 at 11:20 am

How about a shirt that looks like a Dummy’s torso?

  136. Lorx - # March 1st, 2009 at 9:54 pm

T-shirt = win. Definitely would buy one, or two. or nine.

#1 Glitch Fix should really be the Gold Digging AI, it’d be nice if they actually dug for gold instead of pointing diggers skyward and standing there.

  137. MSB3000 - # March 3rd, 2009 at 10:50 pm

Yes, I would buy amazing CC t-shirts. Though it’s probably not possible, wouldn’t it be neat to have one of those positionable wooden model things, only as a Dummy? The ones artists use to help create a pose? Someone help me out here :(

But basically yeah, this game begs for action figures.

  138. TB87670 - # March 6th, 2009 at 3:44 pm

Well, I just bought the game a bit after I read about it. Funny I never heard about it until I read the Indie Games Festival website.

Honestly, and this is the opinion of a new serial key owner and new fan, shirts and magnets will not make the game popular. I found it by pure luck. I paid to help Data prioritize game development more, and while I’m sure my lone purchase won’t be enough I’m sure to say there’s enough fans who did pay it would be great if we got regular updates now, because it seems a bit odd that we have no guarantee of game completion yet there’s merchandise out there. If no one knows about the game why make the accessories, usually game devs do the opposite with game first.

Eyyo data u doin pretty good. Im lovin the cortex command game. Been playing it for a while and i have to say you guys have really improved. Here are some ideas ive though about

-More ammo for laser rifle.(30 is only enough for one guy if u manage to get the whole clip on him. against an army wouldnt work well, specially with the long reload.)
    -Better and more shields.
    -brown coat faction weapons.
    -allow crabs to jump.
-give dummies some type of bleeding/malfunctioning effect.(soldiers bleed, robots start get sparks.)
-increase limb strength(some limbs are shot off to easily.)
-give browncoats a head. (not just a helmet that takes a lot of damage and when destroyed, the browncoat dies.)
    -more variety of coalition.
    -more variety of dummies.
    -more variety of browncoats.
-give drones a slightly higher jumping limit.
-option toggle of how many enemies spawn.(long time ago enemies came down smokin fast. now they dont come down so fast. allow an option that toggles how many enemies come.)

Thats about all the ideas i can think off at the top of my head. Hope you guys take a moment to think of these ideas!
